DaBeth S. Manns, Ph.D. (Chair) - Dr. Manns is the founder of Teaching & Learning Consulting International and the National Chair of the Education Division of the Bethune-DuBois Institute, Inc. She earned a doctorate degree from the department of Curriculum and Instruction at Purdue Univerisity, a master of science degree from the department of Human Development and Services at North Carolina A&T State Univeristy, and a bachelor of arts degree from the department of Political Science at Wake Forest University. Dr. Manns is a volunteer tutor and mentor with both the Maya Angelou Public Charter School (Shaw Campus) and College Bound, Inc., in Washington, D.C.
Sheila Bunn (Vice Chair) – Ms. Bunn is a federal government employee and native Washingtonian. She received her bachelor’s degree in communications media from American University and her master's degree in organizational management and development from Trinity University. Ms. Bunn has been a community and political activist for many years. She is an Ex-Officio Member of the DC Democratic State Committee and former National Committeewoman for the DC Young Democrats. Community affiliations include Covenant House Washington, where she serves as a planning committee member for its annual candlelight vigil for youth.
Patricia Thompson (Secretary) –Ms. Thompson is currently employed with the District of Columbia, Department of Mental Health. Previously, she was the executive director for a small non-profit advocacy agency responsible for involving consumers in monitoring health care policies in the District of Columbia. She has been a community health advocate for several years, working on health care policy and the expansion of health care services for the uninsured.
Cheryl Thompson - Cheryl Thompson is a public health, communications, marketing and knowledge transfer professional. She holds a Master's of Science in Public Health and has studied for a Master's of Government at John Hopkins University. She works for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) as a Health Communications Specialist. Ms. Thompson has researched and written passionately on the subject of health disparities and discrimination in the delivery of health care and has worked on the issue if HIV/AIDS in Sub Saharan Africa since 1999. Once the Washington Press Secretary to Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney of Georgia. Ms. Thompson has experience as a news writer, pool producer for CNN Washington, and Program Director for Pacifica Radio. Ms. Thompson has also visited and worked on health care missions in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Burundi, Rwanda, South Africa, Kenya, and Mozambique.
Jill Donaldson - MHSA joined the Executive Team at the Washington Hospital Center in April, 2007 as Vice President, Cancer and Neurosciences. Ms. Donaldson has been with the Washington Hospital Center since 2005, previously serving as the administrator for the Women’s and Infants’ Services program.
Ms. Donaldson has been with MedStar Health since 1996, serving in numerous roles throughout the system. Prior to joining the Washington Hospital Center in 2005, she was the Administrator for Cardiology and for the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University Hospital. In addition, she has held roles at MedStar Health in strategic planning services and in research administration.
Ms. Donaldson received her bachelor’s degree from Tufts University and her master’s in health services administration from the University of Michigan. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Association of Cancer Executives. She serves as a mentor for the Georgetown University graduate program in health systems administration.
Willie Parker, MD – is the Director of Family Planning for Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC. He served as Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii prior to his current position. He holds a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Berea College in Kentucky, an M.D. degree from the University of Iowa, a Masters of Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health, a Masters of Science in Health Services Research from the University of Michigan where he completed a fellowship in Family Planning in 2008, and served residencies in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Cincinnati, preventive medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, and was an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer with the Centers for Disease Control. He is both board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and trained in preventive medicine.
His more recent work has focused on the prevention and response to violence against women, sexual assault, and the preservation of women’s reproductive health rights through advocacy and the provision of contraceptive and abortion services.
